Interesting theater made high altitude face mask designed to protect exposed facial parts against low temperature encountered during high altitude flight.
This particular mask appears to have been made with parts of sheepskin equipment. The elastic straps look similar to the AN6530 flying goggles straps.
The leather is very supple and the elastic band retained most of its elasticity.
Unique piece of WW2 US Army Air Corps equipment.
